Ziad is a key leader in renewable energy field at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He joined the ministry in 1987 and has held various designations and responsibilities including implementation of policies, strategies and follow for several commercial renewable energy projects including wind IPPs, solar thermal power generation and waste to energy projects, as well as energy efficiency studies and measures.
Ziad is a member of several local committees for studying and evaluation of IPP proposals. He is a member in the Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) and acts as Jordan’s focal point of Jordan at International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and for the Mediterranean Solar Plan (MSP).
Ziad graduated as a mechanical engineer from Yarmuk University (Jordan) in 1984, conducted post graduate courses and advanced training in Germany, Spain and Italy and has conducted and contributed to several energy studies, reports and publications, with a particular focus on renewables.
